Bryan has lived in Mountlake Terrace for the past 15 years. Bryan established Wahl and Associates: Public Affairs Strategies in 1991.
After serving on the Planning Commission for 14 years, Bryan was appointed to the Mountlake Terrace City Council in 2012 and elected to the position in 2013. As a City Councilmember, Bryan’s priorities include policies that increase our jobs and economic vitality, improve quality of life, and ensure responsible and sustainable budgets that direct resources efficiently and effectively to achieve the city’s vision.
Bryan currently serves on the city’s Finance Committee and Transportation Benefit District Board. He also serves on Snohomish County’s Housing and Community Development Advisory Board, the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County’s Advocacy Board, Snohomish County Cities Finance and Legislative Committees, and Puget Sound Regional Council’s Executive Board (alt) and Regional Transit Oriented Development Advisory Committee.
On the Planning Commission, Bryan helped develop the city’s Comprehensive Plan and vision for how the community will grow, and helped revise the planning policies and development regulations to implement the community’s vision.
Bryan served on the Puget Sound Regional Council’s Growth Management Policy Board, where he helped address the challenges our communities face in managing growth, providing housing, enhancing our quality of life, and encouraging the jobs, tax revenues and amenities that come with growth.
Bryan was elected to the Shoreline Parks and Recreation Board of Commissioners in 1991, serving two-terms as Chair of the Board. He worked to promote a positive parks and recreation system and develop a healthy environment that included positive and productive activities for our youth and families. During this time, he was also appointed to King County’s Youth Services Citizens Advisory Committee by the King County Executive.
Bryan has a strong understanding and appreciation for the state and local legislative process, experience researching and analyzing issues and policies, and encouraging public participation in the governmental process.
One of his greatest strengths is his ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow policy-makers, staff and interested stakeholders, while working toward a common agenda and consensus on significant issues and policies.
